Ege University Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Audiology was established in 2021. There is an associate professor and two assistant professor in the department. The department started to accept its first bachelor and graduate students in the 2022-2023 academic year.
Audiology is the science concerned with hearing and vestibuler functions. This field of study includes the prevention of hearing loss and vestibuler disorders, the diagnosis of people with hearing loss and vestibuler disorders, and the planning, implementation, and evaluation of re/habilitation processes.
The goal of the Audiology department is to train audiologists who have current and universal knowledge in the basic fields of audiology, who can think critically, who can design and conduct scientific research, who are aware of their responsibilities to themself, their environment, and the society in which they live, who can transform their scientific education into clinical and field applications without compromising professional ethical principles, and who have awareness, self-esteem, communication skills and self-confidence.
The Audiology department's instruction language is Turkish, and the teaching period is four years. Lessons that are both theoretical and practical in nature. Our students are responsible for conducting field studies and clinical applications in their fields of study during their undergraduate years, as well as preparing reports, seminars, education and research projects, and giving oral presentations. Students are given the title of audiologist after graduating.
Audiologists can work in university hospital, training and research hospitals, public and private hospitals, hearing aid centers, hearing aid and cochlear implant companies, and private education and rehabilitation centers. In addition, they can further their academic education with master's and doctoral programs, as well as pursue an academic career in a university.
